Something About Love | Original Post

A few months ago, I decided that for my February original post, I’d write about love. Now, I’m no expert, but I have seen and felt love and can only hope to give that love to those around me. There are different kinds of love—for friends, family, significant other, material possessions, the unknown, tangible things, ideas, hobbies, etc. Since I’m not an expert, I’ve decided to focus on a few of these things.

First, a tangible thing: For the first six weeks of 2015, I participated in Tone It Up’s Love Your Body Challenge, in which the ultimate goal is to eat clean and work out so that we can better love our bodies. I didn’t do the best I could in terms of eating, but I followed the workouts 80% of the time and learned more about my body. That experience has motivated me to keep going because you should love your body. It’s with you all the time and you want to take good care of it because it needs to last. I am slowly learning to love the parts of my body that I didn’t really love before, and I have a better knowledge of what to do to improve.

Secondly, friends: I don’t have many friends, but I truly love the ones I do have. They are truly special people and are there for me when I need them, and I try to be there when they need me. Friends are your chosen family members, which you can be stuck with if you want, but if you don’t think they are good for you, then you can move along. Because I don’t have many friends, the bonds that I do have are dear to my heart and there’s just something unexplainable that brings two friends together.

Lastly, family: Last week, I got to take a mini vacation and go to Utah for my grandparents’ 50th wedding anniversary. They are incredible people and I can only hope to have a long lasting love like them one day. They exemplify love and care and it amazes me that love can last that long. (I’m sure I’ll change my mind when I find someone who I can love forever.) They have raised a handful of children, and an even bigger group of grandchildren who all look to them for examples of love for one another and those around them. Unlike friends, you are stuck with family whether you like it or not, and I believe that in most circumstances, you’ll always have your family and love them. They are the ones who raise and protect you, teach you right from wrong, and support you continuously. Everyone makes mistakes and in through examples I’ve seen in my life, I know a parents’ love is unconditional and everlasting.

Love is strange. But I’m also a firm believer in it. Love exists for everyone and there are different levels and depths in which one falls into. I leave you with this passage, my all-time favorite about love:

February 2015 Goals and January Recap

Is it just me or did January FLY by?! I don’t know where it went and I only hope time goes by just as fast in March, April, and May (since there’s no holidays from Presidents’ day until Memorial day. Let’s get to my goals:

January goals:

  • Follow blog schedule –> semi-success. I changed my blog schedule up a bit because I realized I didn’t have time to do it all, so I cut back on the number of times I’m posting.
  • Create a blog logo/media –> Still haven’t done it yet, but I’m not sure how important it is, seeing as I have yet to do it
  • Comment on 2 blog posts a week –> nope
  • Wake up early to do Tone it Up’s (TIU) ‘booty call’ [exercising first thing in the morning], at least 3 times a week –> I tried, but found it just isn’t going to work for me. I have to leave the house by 6am, and it’s hard to wake up to workout, have time to cool down, and be out the door by then. I’m okay with that though, since I get in .75 miles on a bike, or walking on my way to work.
  • Complete Tone it Up’s #100byVDay, Sea Shells & Sit-ups’ #tiuTumsAndGuns, Blogilates’ #30dayflatabs –>I did alright, 90% and learned that sit-ups or any repeated up and down sideways movement makes me dizzy…like sit-ups. Strangely crunches don’t affect my head. Just burns the abs!
  • Make clean food choices –> This is the biggest struggle….but it’s a constant goal
  • Finish Tone It Up’s Love Your Body Series –> still ongoing, I’m doing it about 80% of the time

February goals:

  • Publicize blog more through social outlets, starting with Facebook, by March 1, 2015
  • Follow my blog schedule
  • Comment on 3 blog posts a week
  • (I’m also participating in WordPress’ Blogging U’s Blogging 201)
  • Work out at least 4 times a week
  • Complete Tone it Up’s #100byVDay, Blogilates’ #30daybuttlift challenge, and DoYouYoga.com’s 30 Day Meditation Challenge
  • Make clean food choices

How have you held up on your New Year’s Resolutions?

Monthly Mail | January 2015

Mail Time!!!

I haven’t been good about taking pictures of my outgoing mail (mainly because a lot of my outgoing mail this month I rushed to get out…) but I made a collage of the pictures I do have and here’s a quick recap.monthly mail 01-2015

Starting with Swap-Bot, I participated in “Empty Mailbox????” Swap, in which we were to make a handmade card and send to three partners. I have only received 2 of my parcels, and anxiously awaiting the third. She said she sent it on Jan 15, so it may be lost…From those packages, I also received some small things for my smash book and junk journals.

I also participated in a Happy Mail Swap and I can’t remember now what I sent, but here’s what I got. I love the blush, as it’s my favorite color! Thank’s Jenn from the UK. Love her handwriting and thoughtfulness!

Everything else was penpal related. I received letters from Rachel in the UK, Nurran in Switzerland and wrote them back and sent a letter to Nery in Texas. I can’t wait to hear back from them!

Want to be penpals? Submit your info on my contact page and I’ll be sure to send something your way! Tell me a little about you as well!
